Hundreds of Thai celebrities, influencers, YouTubers, health enthusiasts and newcomers recently checked in at Thailand’s first-ever yoga and Thai boxing event held on the runway of Bangkok’s main international airport, Suvarnabhumi.
Brew Yoga hosted the event, which offered the country’s only yoga classes that incorporated refreshments into their lessons. Nipaporn Audrach, founder of Brew Yoga, led the event, which was attended by 500 people.
The event is part of Airports of Thailand (AOT) PCL’s strategy to become known to travelers globally. It also involved promoting the rapid expansion of Thailand’s largest airport’s third runway capacity from 68 to 94 flights every hour, up by 38 percent.
The AOT approved this first-of-a-kind event by combining yoga as a friendly exercise for all ages and incorporating coconut beverages, Thailand’s famous healthy drink, with the country’s globally recognized sport, Thai boxing.
The third runway will be fully operational by the end of 2024, under Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s overall goal to elevate Suvarnhabumi Airport to become one of the 50 best airports in the world according to the benchmark of Skytrak’s Top 100 Airport.
Suvarnhabumi Airport is ranked 58 in 2024 as voted by air travelers worldwide in the 2023/2024 World Airport Survey, up from 68th in the previous year.
